Branding. Magnolias Restaurant Case Study

The goals of this brief was to create an identity brand for high end restaurant Magnolias based in Sydney’s CBD. They required a logo as well as associated branding collateral which includes a label for their exclusive in-house gin, menu layout and wayfinding signage. The logo needed to be clean and unique in design for the restaurant to stand out.

The approach to this brief was to start on the branding of the restaurant. The font choice of a serif classic font for the logo was major factor in moving forward with the project as it what help set the tone for the high-end look that was required for the brief. An illustrative aspect of a magnolia branch was added to the logo to build on the name of the restaurant. This illustrative aspect also allowed for a strong brand to take shape within the project as it was used across various collateral.

The remaining elements in the design were all created emphasising the brand. The menu was created in a simple to understand way with the idea that the restaurant could print of weekly menu updates without having to hire a designer every time to update the menu. The gin bottle was designed to be a unique reflection of the restaurants brand that could be updated with the colour in the background to change for each type of gin made. The wayfinding signage for the interior and exterior was designed to be simple yet effective giving a strong brand presence across the restaurant.

Overall, this project came together to produce a high looking brand across all areas of the brief which all complemented each other.
